Proludic have worked very closely with key Local Authorities and Landscape Architects over the past 12 months, helping them to deliver some of the best examples of landscape-led design in the country.
Landscape-led design comes through embracing the natural, existing features of the landscape and combining this with appropriate fixed play opportunities. Undulations, trees, bushes and grassy areas provide a natural template for play that can be enhanced further by selecting fixed play equipment and using a variety of different surfacing options.
“The play space at Welland Park has a pleasant character and ‘feel’ and is clearly a space which both adults and children enjoy using, and illustrates many of the benefits of designing a landscape setting alongside the equipment.”
Aileen Shackell – lead author of the Design for Play guide
“The play space is a good example of a layout in which the equipment and landscape setting have been designed together; taking this ‘landscape-led’ approach to the design has enhanced the equipment considerably.”
