Provision for teenage girls is often overlooked and generally relies on the presumption that all girls prefer to be spectators. Traditional play opportunities don’t appeal to girls as they generally only cater for ball sports such as football and basketball, which tend to be dominated by boys using one goal end for unstructured activities.
“They don’t really appeal to girls of our age and are usually used by younger boys.”
Charlotte Bichley aged 13yrs
The MUSA concept provides unique play, sport and fitness activities that have been proven to attract girls allowing them to express themselves more freely in small groups while encouraging them to be more active.
“I’ve never been on anything like this, I enjoyed the team work and the fact that it’s quite physically demanding.”
Grace Griffin aged 13yrs
It’s also our experience that girls will master the techniques needed to use some of the more dynamic equipment quicker than boys and are encouraged to use individual pieces of equipment due to the stylish look and design.
“It’s a great informal way to exercise and the equipment doesn’t look childish, it’s much more appealing to me and my friends.”
Kellen Beck-Sliney aged 13yrs
